Dash Point’s Marine View Presbyterian Church is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a special celebration Sept. 10-11.
The event will cap a century of participation with the community and include a Saturday celebration dinner and a Sunday funfest for the church family and members of the local community. The activities on Sunday include bouncy houses, carnival games, pie-eating contests, cake walk, food and more.
“I’m excited by the response we’ve already received and we are anticipating a great turnout of our many friends here in the community for this event,” said pastor Jesse Skiffington.
The event is being labeled as a homecoming and reunion due to the number of former members who are expected to be among those attending this special occasion, according to church members.

Marine View had its humble beginnings in 1922 when it organized a Sunday school in a Markham Road home that also served as the Dash Point School.
Over the years, a congregation formed which was served by itinerant pastors. In 1954, sufficient interest to become identified with a protestant denomination led to a more formal affiliation with the Presbytery and the appointment of its first full-time pastor, according to the church.
In 1962, the present sanctuary on Eastside Drive was completed and since then Marine View Presbyterian has become a major influence in helping and serving the communities of Federal Way, Dash Point, Brown’s Point and Northeast Tacoma.
Marine View Presbyterian Church is located at 8469 Eastside Drive NE in Tacoma.
