Multi-Service Center’s 7th annual Crab Feed and auction was held June 14.
With a room full of sponsors (21 in all, the most ever), the attendees raised $70,500 for the organization’s many programs to help people in need throughout South King County. The total money raised is a 76 percent increase in revenue over last year’s Crab Feed. Held at the King County Aquatic Center, the Crab Feed drew a packed house (350 people) for all-you-can eat crab as well as silent and live auctions and a visit by the Seafair Pirates.
Tammy Dziak of Lindy Lou’s Coffee and Deli in Federal Way won the first-ever Crabbie award for her table decorating. Sponsors were encouraged to decorate their tables around the theme “At the Beach,” and the tables were then judged by the Seafair Pirates.
Local businesses donated auction items, which ranged from gift baskets and certificates for spa treatments, to an authentic fire hydrant, a bus trip for 47 people to Leavenworth for Oktoberfest, two weeks at a villa in Portugal, jewelry, coffee at Starbucks headquarters and much more.
The next Crab Feed is scheduled for June 13, 2009.
