Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
Employee thief: At 12:13 a.m. on Dec. 22 in the 1700 block of South Commons, it was reported that an employee of a popular department store was discovered to have stolen approximately $1,200 in cash from the store’s registers over the course of December. At the time of the suspect’s arrest, $75 of stolen money was discovered on the suspect’s person, along with numerous merchandise from the store.
Stolen vehicle recovered: At 8:48 a.m. on Dec. 22 in the 100 block of South 348th St., police encountered a stolen vehicle while patrolling. Police contacted and detained the four occupants. A further search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia, fraudulent ID cards, burglary tools and suspected stolen credit cards.
Christmas decoration stolen: At 9:32 a.m. on Dec. 22 in the 29000 block of 18th Ave. South, a homeowner reported that unknown suspects stole an inflatable Santa decoration from their front yard.
Counterfeit $100 discovered: At 2:17 p.m. on Dec. 17 in the 1500 block of South 344th St., a vendor reported that he had mistakenly accepted a counterfeit $100 bill during a recent transaction.
Gas duster user: At 4:15 p.m. on Dec. 22 in the 33000 block of 21st Ave. SW, police made contact with a woman in her vehicle. Upon contact, police observed the woman using a gas duster product to get high. The report notes the woman was cited and released on scene.
Unpaid bar tab: At 4:26 p.m. on Dec. 22 in the 34000 block of 16th Ave. South, it was reported that four unknown suspects walked out on a $140 bar tab.
Unpaid cab fare: At 11:19 p.m. on Dec. 22 in the 4900 block of SW 319th Lane, a suspect was cited for failing to pay a $40 cab fare.
Counterfeit $20s: At 7:18 a.m. on Dec. 20 in the 1200 block of South 320th St., an unknown suspect successfully passed off two counterfeit $20 bills. The discovery was not made until an employee from the store in question was counting the bills in the registers and discovered the counterfeits.
Fraudulent check: At 2:36 p.m. on Dec. 21 in the 1400 block of South 320th St., two suspects were arrested for attempting to cash a fraudulent check in the amount of $2,100.
McLovin?: At 7:17 p.m. on Dec. 20 in the 33000 block of 21st Ave. SW, the suspect entered a store and asked to buy a carton of cigarettes. The clerk on duty asked for the suspect’s ID. The suspect handed the ID over, at which time the clerk became suspicious. According to the report, the ID was allegedly issued out of Ohio, and the picture of the suspect included the suspect holding two thumbs up. The clerk took the ID information down and handed the ID back, at which time the suspect grabbed the carton in question and fled the scene.
