Car prowled: At 8:25 a.m. on Aug. 17 in the 32000 block of 11th Place S., the victim reported his or her car was parked in a parking lot while the victim went for a walk on the BPA trail. When the victim returned, he or she discovered the passenger side window was broken out and that $50 was taken from inside the vehicle.

Shed pushed over: At 10:42 a.m. on Aug. 17 in the 18000 block of Pacific Highway S., unknown suspects pushed over a storage shed belonging to a business. The business estimated that about $1,000 in damage was done to the shed’s structure.

Batteries stolen in attempt at return fraud: At 10:51 a.m. on Aug. 17 in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway S., a man and a woman stole approximately $100 in batteries from an Albertson’s store. The duo returned to the man’s mother’s house and asked her to try and return the batteries. The mother refused. The report does not mention if police ever tracked down the duo.

Vehicles prowled: At 1:22 p.m. on Aug. 17 in the 1700 block of S. 369th St., two vehicles were prowled while their owners were at Wild Waves.

Rocks thrown at apartment units: At 2:11 p.m. on Aug. 17 in the 1800 block of S. 281st St., a resident of an apartment complex reported that unknown suspects threw a rock through her bedroom window. An on-site manager noted that a number of similar incidents had occurred during the week.

Man arrested for stealing liquor: At 2:39 p.m. on Aug. 17 in the 2200 block of S. Commons, a man was arrested for attempting to steal liquor from Target. The man successfully stole liquor from Target the day before.

Stabbing victim refuses to cooperate: At an unknown time on Aug. 17 in the 34000 block of Ninth Ave. S., a man arrived at St. Francis Hospital with a stab wound to his left side. The man refused to disclose any details as to how or why he was stabbed.

Group theft from Walmart: At 12:12 p.m. on Aug. 16 in the 34000 block of 16th Ave. S., Walmart employees reported that “several juveniles and an adult female” stole approximately $400 worth of clothing and fled the area in a vehicle.

Strange group in vacant house: At 4:12 a.m. on Aug. 16 in the 1800 block of S. 288th St., three juvenile females and three men were discovered in a vacant house. The juveniles were released to their guardians, while two of the men were taken into custody on active warrants.

Swords discovered near dumpster: At 7:18 p.m. on Aug. 16 in the 34000 block of Second Lane S., a woman reported finding three swords next to the dumpster at her apartment complex. She took possession of the swords so children in the complex didn’t stumble upon them and potentially hurt themselves with them. Police took the swords into custody for destruction.

Copper wire stolen: At 8:11 a.m. on Aug. 15 in the 33000 block of 43rd Ave., unknown suspects stole over $1,000 worth of copper wiring from a house currently undergoing renovation.

Copper pipes stolen: At 10:40 a.m. on Aug. 15 in the 3600 block of S. 344th St., someone reported that unknown suspects stole approximately 300 feet of exposed copper piping. The pipes were stolen from an office building’s open parking garage area.

Stolen vehicle leads to chase: At 6:03 p.m. on Aug. 15 in the 300 block of S. 325th St., officers attempted to detain a known stolen vehicle. At one point in the pursuit, police deployed spike strips. The suspect vehicle was able to bypass these, but in doing so, injured a construction worker that was in the general vicinity of the chase. The suspect vehicle was eventually detained by using a precision immobilization technique.
