The Federal Way Police Department is inviting the community to the first of three “Chief’s Call” community meetings.

The first meeting will run 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club, 3583 SW 320th St. Topics that will be covered at all three meetings this year are red light and school zone photo enforcement; school safety; gun safety; and active shooter situations.

The other two meetings are scheduled for May and September. Those meetings will be held in the northern and southern parts of the city, respectively. Dates and locations will be announced.

According to the city, a Chief’s Call group has existed within the police department since 2001. Chief Brian Wilson wants to change the format and make it more community oriented. Wilson and other senior FWPD personnel will be present to lead these conversations and answer questions. Members of the department’s Crime Prevention Education and Analyst team will also be present, according to the city.

“I look forward to going into our neighborhood communities and discussing the topics that are in the headlines, and concern our citizens daily,” Wilson said in a news release. “We appreciate the opportunity to continue and foster excellent partnerships.”
