Community invited to ‘Cruelty to Compassion Ending Exploitation’ forum

The Federal Way Coalition Against Trafficking and CHI Franciscan Health, in partnership with Federal Way Public Schools and Seneca Family of Agencies are hosting a free community forum, “Cruelty to Compassion Ending Exploitation,” from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Federal Way City Council Chambers, 33325 Eighth Ave. S.

Guest speakers are Dr. Michele Borba, Dr. Melanie Strey and Melanie G. Ferrer-Vaugh. Borba is a renowned educational psychologist with experience in parenting, bullying and character development.

She has authored many books to help parents guide their children to lead confident, happy and productive lives.

Strey is the executive director of Equity for Scholar and Family Success for Federal Way Public Schools. She will be sharing the district’s “whole child” approach, which is designed to empower and prepare scholars to be positive and productive members of society.

Ferrer-Vaugh, an outreach specialist with Seneca Family of Agencies, will share the agency’s mission to provide unconditional care to help children and their families.
