A lost little pig and his owner were reunited last Friday.

Residents of Federal Way’s Marine Hills neighborhood contacted Federal Way police when they noticed the black pot belly pig rooting around their backyard and “grubbing in the dirt,” one resident said in an email to police.

One resident found the pig on the evening of July 22 and fenced him in her backyard. But when she went to check on him in the morning, he had escaped through a loose board.

The resident said she would keep food and water out for him, as they are “very smart.”

But the pig turned up again later that evening in the Marine Hills area and was picked up by officer Scott Eatchel, a Federal Way police officer working the Animal Services Unit.

The pig was taken to a farm in Graham until the owner came forward.

Police were able to locate the man, who lives in the 30200 block of Eighth Ave. S., and reunite the two. The pig’s photo was put up on the Federal Way Police Department’s Facebook in an attempt to get more information on who the owner was. Police also thanked the members of the Marine Hills SafeCity Neighborhood website for helping.
