As part of a wild weekend in the region that ended with his arrest, comedian Katt Williams squeezed in a shopping spree at the Federal Way Farmers Market.
The eccentric comedian, rapper and actor’s local troubles began Thursday night. Williams failed to show up, without explanation, for the first gig of a two-night engagement at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle — stranding a packed theater full of angry ticket holders.
Then around noon Friday, Williams and his entourage visited the Federal Way Farmers Market’s winter bazaar at The Commons Mall.
Williams spent several hundred dollars among the market’s vendors, according to Rose Ehl, a market organizer. He paid $110 for two pairs of gloves that cost about $10. He spent $140 on soap. He also bought a jade necklace, paying for the jewelry with three $100 bills, Ehl said.
“It just buzzed our market,” Ehl said. “It made everybody’s day, that’s for sure.”
Several hours before visiting the farmers market, Williams apparently raised a ruckus at two Federal Way hotels.
Federal Way police received two calls in the early morning hours of Friday, Nov. 30, according to a police spokeswoman. The first call came at 2:57 a.m. from the Hampton Inn. Williams allegedly wanted to rent all the rooms at the hotel and was ripping $100 bills in front of the clerk, according to police.
The other call came from the Marriott Courtyard hotel, where Williams was allegedly involved in a verbal argument with a staff member. According to police, Williams tried to buy alcohol after hours, and became angry with the clerk when he was refused service. Williams was asked to leave the property and there was no record of him being a guest at the hotel. No enforcement action was taken by Federal Way police, who cleared the scene just after 3 a.m., according to the spokeswoman.
Williams reportedly shopped at the farmers market and The Commons Mall on Friday afternoon, then performed later Friday night at the Paramount Theatre. At the show, Williams dissed Federal Way and was allegedly involved in an incident with three fans who tried to take a photo of the comedian.
Seattle police arrested Williams on Sunday after a confrontation at a bar, where the comedian allegedly threatened the World Sports Grille manager with a pool cue, according to the Seattle Times. Williams is accused of flicking a cigarette into a woman’s face through a car window, throwing a rock at the vehicle, and struggling with officers who arrested him. He was released from King County Jail on Monday, according to the report.
Williams has made headlines recently over other arrests and bizarre behavior. Williams is known for his stand-up comedy on BET and for film roles including “Friday After Next,” in which he played Money Mike.
The Mirror left a message with Williams’ management agency seeking comment.
