The annual Christmas House runs the third week of December (by appointment only) at Steel Lake Presbyterian Church, 1829 S. 308th St., Federal Way. Last year, the project served 832 families that included 2,152 children ages 14 and under. This year, project organizers expect to reach even more children. Christmas House is a community-wide effort led by Steel Lake Presbyterian, Marine View Presbyterian and Browns Point United Methodist churches, along with Multi-Service Center and The Commons Mall. Shoppers at the mall can also choose and donate gifts for Christmas House at The Giving Tree. The following items are needed:
• Gifts of new toys for children from infant to teenager.
• New or gently used family games or puzzles.
• New socks for all ages from infant to adult.
• Holiday ornaments, stocking stuffers, candy.
• Hats, scarves, gloves for all ages.
Gifts can be dropped off at The Giving Tree at The Commons Mall or delivered to Multi-Service Center’s warehouse in Federal Way (1200 S. 336th St.). To have gifts picked up, call Carolyn Cowan at (253) 839-9586. All items must be received by 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, for distribution this year. Cash donations are also accepted.
