Celebrate the return of salmon at the Hylebos Historic Barker & Denny Cabins

Event is from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16.

One last event remains at the Hylebos Historic Barker & Denny Cabins this year.

The organization is celebrating the return of the salmon with the Blue Heron Canoe sharing their Northwest Native culture from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16.

Salmon are returning to the Hylebos stream system and the Hylebos Wetlands Park feeds into the Hylebos stream system that empties into Commencement Bay. Salmon return from the Pacific Ocean where they spend years before returning back to the stream where they were born to deposit their own eggs.

This final action completes the life cycle of the salmon.

The public is welcome to join the celebrations at 411 S. 348th Street. Parking is limited so visitors are encouraged to park at the Brooklake Community Center and Hylebos Blueberry Farm Park, then walk to the trail to the cabins.
