Federal Way School Board director Amye Bronson-Doherty has announced she will not seek re-election this fall. Bronson-Doherty serves in position 3, and is the board vice president.

“It has been an honor to represent the Federal Way community as a board director,” Bronson-Doherty said in a news release. “My motivation was to help facilitate good communication between all stakeholders, and to provide the district with leadership that represented the community’s vision for our children’s success. The selection of an outstanding new superintendent, our transition to policy governance, the successful implementation of our academic acceleration policy and the long overdue transition to a true standards-based education system are all big wins for our students. I can step back in November confident that I did my part in moving this district forward.”

Bronson-Doherty has one son in college and two more enrolled in the district. She is the marketing and communications director for the Federal Way Chamber’s Advancing Leadership program, and is also a mentor with Communities in Schools. She will continue to be involved in education, both as a parent and an advocate for students.
