Grandson pushes grandma into walls: At 8:24 a.m. on June 13 in the 2200 block of South Star Lake Road, a woman told police her grandson assaulted her by pushing her down the hallway and slamming her into walls and doors. The woman had no visible injuries but said her head, neck, back and arms hurt. Police were unable to contact the suspect.
School reports inappropriate Instagram photo: At 11:27 a.m. on June 13 in the 3500 block of 16th Avenue South, a school administrator reported an Instagram photo of two students engaged in oral sex. The case report was made for information only.
Abandoned child given to stranger: At 2:24 p.m. on June 13 in the 35400 block of Pacific Highway South, a mother dropped her 2-year-old daughter off with a family friend for two hours but did not return. The family friend gave the child to a stranger to take care of and the stranger bathed, fed and gave the child clothing. The stranger contacted police because he/she didn’t want to continue caring for the child. The case was forwarded to Child Protective Services.
Woman duped out of $4,000: At 2:58 p.m. on June 13 at Park 16 Apartments, a woman called police to report she had been defrauded of $4,000. She alleged that about three or four weeks ago, a man contacted her and said he was with a Facebook lottery. He told her she had won $150,000 but would need to pay $4,000 in taxes. The woman paid the money but did not receive the winnings. Police gave her a case number and suggested the woman contact Facebook’s security and fraud unit.
Mountain bike found: At 8:09 a.m. on June 15 in the 33300 block of 8th Avenue South, a woman found a purple mountain bike and returned it to the police station. She told police she found it on the BPA Trail in some bushes. Police took the bike and determined that it wasn’t listed as stolen, then stored the bike as found property.
Man with mental illness threatens Safeway shoppers: At 12:07 p.m. on June 15 in the 1200 block of South 320th Street, a man was involuntarily committed to St. Francis Hospital. Witnesses reported he was acting strange in a Safeway and threatening people with a screwdriver. When police contacted him, he said “midgets” were after him. The man later said he suffers from schizophrenia.
Intoxicated man brandishes large kitchen knife: At 5:02 p.m. on June 15 in the 2100 block of Southwest 336th Street, several people, including a South King Fire and Rescue captain, called police to report a man with a large knife who was allegedly threatening people. Police found the man with the kitchen knife but noted he was “so intoxicated he couldn’t handle it in a stabbing manner.” Officers told people to leave the area as the man tried to run away. He was eventually caught and committed; the knife was booked into evidence.
Girlfriend stabs boyfriend: At 4:59 p.m. on June 15 in the 27900 block of Pacific Highway South, a woman was arrested for stabbing her boyfriend. Police found the victim bleeding with multiple stab wounds. After a preliminary investigation, the woman was booked for first-degree assault and the case was turned over to detectives.
Campers cited for trespassing school: At 10:16 a.m. on June 15 at 2405 South 300th Street, two people were found camping at Wildwood Elementary. One of the campers had previously been trespassed from all Federal Way Public Schools properties and was cited and released. The other subject was given his/her first trespass notice.
School staff’s vehicle prowled: At 10:23 a.m. on June 17 at 1415 SW 314th St., an unknown suspect broke into a Lakota Middle School staff member’s vehicle. A surveillance video could not determine whether the suspect was male or female, but it showed a subject walking up to the victim’s vehicle, leaning inside, then leaving in an unidentified vehicle. It’s unknown if anything was taken.
Large dog bites small dog: At noon on June 17 in the 2100 block of South 336th Street, a dog owner was issued a civil infraction after his/her large dog broke through an apartment screen door and attacked another dog who was walking on a leash. The smaller dog suffered multiple punctures and underwent surgery for its injuries. The other dog was declared vicious.
Creepy man trespassed from mall: At 9:05 p.m. on June 18 in the 1900 block of South Commons, a man was trespassed from the Commons Mall after he asked 13-year-old girls to “get to know them better.” After the girls told him how old they were, he followed them around the mall until they called 911. The girls were picked up by a parent and positively identified the man to officers. Police determined there was no crime, but mall management requested he be permanently trespassed.
Brass knuckles pulled during soccer fight: At 11:56 a.m. on June 19 in the 1100 block of South Dash Point Road, players got into a physical fight during a soccer match. As each team began to assault the other, a person from the crowd produced brass knuckles and hit a victim in the head. The victim suffered lacerations above his right eye, but no one knew the suspect who had injured him. The victim went to the hospital for stitches.
