Federal Way police and the bomb disposal unit responded to a call about a suicidal man at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Greystone Meadows Apartments, 31500 1st Ave. S.

Valley Cities Counseling and Consultation first responded to the apartment and spoke with the man for about two hours, police spokesman Raymond Bunk said. The man was not determined to be a threat to himself or others, and Valley Cities left the location, Bunk said.

The man’s mother became upset about how the situation was handled and called police to her son’s apartment about an hour later, Bunk said. The bomb squad accompanied police, but was not needed.

Officers could not determine if the man was inside the apartment. They did not force entry for this reason and because the individual had not been deemed dangerous by Valley Cities Counseling and Consultation, Bunk said.
