Body found in Steel Lake:
A 39-year-old Federal Way man was found dead in Steel Lake at Steel Lake Park, 2410 S. 312th St., at approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The man’s clothes and wallet were discovered on the park’s dock by a passerby who was walking his dog, according to Federal Way police spokeswoman Stacy Flores. The dog’s owner called the belongings to the attention of American Medical Response paramedics who were already at the park. The paramedics then spotted a man’s body floating in the lake, Flores said.
The body was recovered and pronounced dead on the scene by the paramedics, she said. Federal Way police were called.
The King County Medical Examiner took custody of the body around 11 a.m., Flores said. By that time what appeared to be a suicide note was found in the man’s residence, she said. The man had a warrant that was issued in Federal Way for his arrest, Flores said.
Police are currently investigating the crime, including the note to ensure its authenticity, she said. The medical examiner is expected to release the cause of death and notify the man’s next-of-kin. His name had not been released as of press time.

Performing arts center:
Johnson Consulting, hired by the city to perform a performing arts center feasibility study, will present its initial findings to Federal Way and residents at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at City Hall, 33325 8th Ave. S.
The consultants are expected to reveal that a performing arts center, as a stand-alone venue, may not be feasible, but a combination conference center with a smaller performance venue may be, city spokeswoman Linda Farmer said. The meeting is open to public comment.

Airport noise:
Port of Seattle officials will be present at the 5:30 p.m. Dec. 3 meeting of the Federal Way City Council’s Land Use and Transportation Committee to update residents on the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s noise abatement efforts.
Port of Seattle representatives will provide information on the process of the Part 150 Noise Study, an ongoing noise and land use study, activation of a third runway and flight tracks, including ways to monitor the noise associated with the pathways.
