Name-changer busted at Wal-Mart: At 9:11 a.m. on Aug. 15 in the 34000 block of 16th Ave. South, officers were dispatched to assist Wal-Mart security in identifying a female they had detained for shoplifting. When asked for her name, the woman provided police a false name and date of birth. Officers later located her Washington ID card and charged the woman with providing false information to a police officer.

Couple with warrants run from traffic stop: At 2:33 p.m. on Aug. 15 in the 30000 block of Military Road South, officers attempted a traffic stop on a blue BMW. When police ran the plates of the vehicle, they discovered the registered owner of the car had an active felony warrant. The BMW sped away when officers attempted the traffic stop. Police got the car to pull over and the two occupants in the car, a male and a female, attempted to run away. When police detained the two, the male returned with a $10,000 felony warrant; the female had a $1,000 misdemeanor warrant. Both warrants were confirmed and the two were booked into SCORE Jail without incident.

Man with warrants, not prowler, arrested: At 1:54 a.m. on Aug. 17 in the 33000 block of Pacific Highway South, police discovered a man walking and pushing an electric scooter near 336th South Street. Because officers received calls of vehicle prowlers in the area, police made contact with the man. When asked for identification, the suspect could not provide any but did give police his name and date of birth. When officers ran a check, they discovered the suspect had an active theft warrant in the amount of $2,000 out of Kitsap County. The warrant was confirmed and the suspect was placed into custody and booked into SCORE Jail.

Man charged shoplifting $16 in goods: At 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 17 in the 33000 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, a man was arrested for shoplifting items valued at $15.57 and fleeing on foot, making no attempt to pay for the items. Police say a shopper attempted to stop the man outside in the parking lot, but the man evaded the shopper and continued to run. Police located and detained the man then found he had an outstanding warrant. He was transported to SCORE jail.

Suspect runs, can’t hide: At 3:45 a.m. on Aug. 18 in the 800 block of Southwest 314th Place, officers observed a suspect “attempting to hide” behind a vehicle. He initially gave police a false name but was identified after allowing police to look at his hospital bracelet. Officers discovered he had a warrant out of Federal Way, placed him into custody, and booked him into the SCORE Jail. The man was also cited for additional misdemeanor charges.

Great lengths to hide drugs: At 3:27 a.m. on Aug. 18 in the 28000 block of Military Road South, police made contact with a male after a suspicious subject complaint. Officers arrested him after discovering he had an active Kitsap County warrant. Once police delivered the man to SCORE jail, officers discovered he’d stashed 35.7 grams of methamphetamine and 12.3 grams of heroin in his underwear.

Poodle-chihuahua mix injured by neighbor’s pit bull: At 10:24 p.m. on Aug. 18 in the 30000 block of 5th Avenue Southwest, police responded to a report of a neighbor’s two pit bulls breaking out of a fence and going across the street to a neighbor’s residence. Both pit bulls, after entering the house via an open garage and rear access door, attacked the homeowner’s dog. Officers were able to secured the animals, and the victims’ dog was transported to a veterinary hospital. The dog sustained a possible fracture to its rear leg and multiple bite marks from the attack.

Wanted man loiters at a gas station: At 2:28 p.m. on Aug. 18 in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers were dispatched to a Chevron for reports of a man loitering on the property. When police arrived, they made contact with the suspect just east of the gas station. Officers ran a criminal records check that showed the suspect had an active misdemeanor warrant for his arrest out of Everett for theft. His bail amount was $1,100. Police confirmed the warrant and the suspect was booked into SCORE Jail.

Boat motor stolen, “some tweaker” suspected: At 5:51 p.m. on Aug. 18 in the 30000 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, a man called police to report his boat motor had been stolen from his driveway overnight. The victim provided officers with a serial number for the motor and listed the motor as being worth $1,500. The victim told police he did not have any suspect information. When asked if he knew who stole his motor, the victim told officers it was “probably some tweaker.”

Shoplifting suspect tries again: At 1:09 p.m. on Aug. 19 at The Commons mall, a suspect was taken into custody after allegedly attempting to steal items from both Kohl’s and Sears. After security saw the suspect leave Kohl’s with multiple items, they attempted to make contact when the suspect dropped the items and ran off. Shortly thereafter, the suspect returned to Sears and attempted to “steal a tablet” and flee. Police made contact and detained the suspect outside of the mall. Officers also found the suspect to have a permanent trespass order with The Commons due to previous theft attempts.

Man found with drug paraphernalia: At 2:56 p.m. on Aug. 19 at The Commons mall, police conducted a search on a suspect for stealing $79 worth of merchandise from Kohl’s. During the search, the suspect was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and was arrested.

Animals discovered in car: At 2:50 p.m. on Aug. 20 at The Commons mall, police discovered two dogs in crates in a vehicle parked in the parking lot. With the temperature reaching above 90 degrees, officers noticed both rear windows “were barely cracked open.” Police made entry into the vehicle to rescue the dogs. The owner later contacted police to retrieve the dogs, and an animal cruelty charge was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

Grandmother suspected of theft: At 6:08 p.m. on Aug. 20 at The Commons mall, police arrested a woman suspected of stealing $461 worth of Macy’s merchandise while her grandchildren were getting their hair cut at a nearby mall barber shop.

Police find stolen car with suspect: At 9:23 p.m. on Aug. 20 in the 30000 block of 10th Avenue South, police came across a vehicle, which was registered as stolen, parked with a woman in the passenger seat. The woman was detained and found to have a warrant for her arrest with the department. Police were unable to locate the driver of the car.

Assault with a pellet gun: At 4:42 a.m. on Aug. 21 in the 1800 block of South 308th Court, a suspect shot a pellet gun at a woman’s residence, striking her with a pellet, and made threats to kill the woman. Police located the suspect nearby with a pellet gun in his vehicle and pellets in his pockets that matched pellets found at the scene. Officers arrested the suspect and booked him into SCORE Jail.

Following the first and second rule: At 8:48 p.m. on Aug. 21 in the 30000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to reports of several males fighting. Upon arrival, police made contact with the alleged victim and a witness. The victim stated another male “hit him in the face with unknown object for unknown reasons.” Police noticed the man giving the account was bleeding from the lower lip. South King Fire and Rescue was initially dispatched, but the man refused medical treatment and refused to offer further details.
