BECU young members are excelling in the classroom and the community. Thanks to the generosity and donations from the community and BECU employees, the BECU Foundation awarded 80 students with a $3,000 scholarship.
Two of those students include Federal Way residents Christina Huber and Madison Rogers.
Huber is attending Stanford University. For her service project, she tutored math and other subjects at a local at-risk school.
Rogers is attending Colorado School of Mines with a major in computer engineering. For her service project, she raised money to assist individuals with diabetes through the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation.
The selected students and their families were honored at a breakfast at Safeco Field featuring guest speakers Debra Music, Chief Marketing Officer Theo Chocolate and Rick Rizzs, Mariners broadcast announcer.
The scholarship recipients were selected based on their excellence in the community and in the classroom.
