At approximately 7:20 p.m. Sept. 3 in the 2100 block of South 296th Street officers shot a bank robbery suspect who was threatening to kill them.
The suspect, 24-year-old Joel Crom, robbed a Federal Way Sterling Savings bank Aug. 24. Officers went to an apartment complex Thursday night on a lead that they could find Crom there. It is unclear what transpired after officers confronted Crom.
At some point, Crom threatened officers and they opened fire. The suspect was transported to Harborview Medical Center. The two officers involved, one whom has three years police experience and the other whom has 13 years experience, were placed on paid administrative leave.
The Auburn Police Department is conducting an investigation.
