Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
• Arson: At 8:53 p.m. June 30 in the 2400 block of South Star Lake Road, police were dispatched to a fire. A garage/storage unit was ablaze. The fire district suspected arson and a witness reported five juveniles in the area before the fire began.
• Phony contractors: At 8:45 p.m. June 30 in the 200 block of Southwest 325th Place, suspects were asking for payment to paint neighbors’ house numbers on the sidewalk. When one customer asked who the suspects worked for, they became aggressive and said they worked for the city. They did not work for the city.
• Stolen paperwork: At 3:18 p.m. June 30 in the 2500 block of South 316th Lane, a victim reported her vehicle was broken into. A book of checks and her children’s birth certificates were stolen.
• Counterfeit: At 8:12 p.m. July 1 at 27400 Pacific Highway South, police were called to a restaurant where a fake $20 bill was passed.
• More counterfeit: At 7:35 p.m. July 1 at 34520 16th Ave. S., police responded to a fraud in progress regarding a $100 counterfeit bill. The suspect stated he received the bill from the bank. Witnesses provided statements and the suspect was released.
• Child pornography: At 6:18 p.m. July 1 at 1414 S. 324th St., an employee with an electronics business reported that a pornographic photo of a nude child was found on a suspect’s computer. The suspect was arrested.
• Missing jewelry: At 5:25 p.m. July 1 in the 100 block of Southwest Campus Drive, a complainant contacted police to report he believed a relative stole $15,000 of his wife’s jewelry.
• Burglary: At 3:43 a.m. July 1 at 28835 Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a burglary alarm at a business. They found the suspect inside the business.
• Stolen guns: At 12:12 a.m. June 30 in the 3000 block of South 288th Street, two victims reported returning home to find the house burglarized. The victim’s guns were stolen.
