The City of Federal Way is now accepting applications for the vacant Position 5 on the City Council, after the July 31 resignation of Council member Mark Koppang.

Interested candidates can access the application by visiting cityoffederalway.com/Position5.

Applications must be submitted by 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28.

This appointment will serve from the date of the appointment until the certification of the next general election at which a member of the governing body normally would be elected.

Federal Way City Council Position 5 will be added to the 2021 general election to fill the remainder of the term through December 2023.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be a registered voter in King County and a resident of Federal Way.

The monthly salary for the position is $1,268.74.

Candidates will interview with the City Council via Zoom during a special meeting held in early September.
