The 30th District Republicans are holding the Ronald Reagan writing competition, which is open to students currently enrolled in the Federal Way high schools. Papers must submitted via email at contest@fwgop.com by March 30. Essays must not exceed two pages at 1.5 spacing. The top five will be asked to read their papers at a presentation 7 p.m. April 21.

Prizes range from $50 to $250. Students can choose between three topics:

1. America — What it means to me

2. Capitalism — the Economic Backbone to Democracy

3. Why is America Great?
