A Federal Way man who claims he was injured by a hot coffee spill is suing fast food chain restaurant Wendy’s.

The man said he purchased a cup of coffee on the morning of June 16, 2012 at the Wendy’s located at 2216 S. 320th St. in Federal Way.

He placed the hot coffee on a wet table at the restaurant, when the coffee slid off the unbalanced table and fell into his lap, according to court documents his attorney with the Seattle firm Buckley and Associates, PS, Inc. filed in King County Superior Court on April 1.

The court documents did not specify how severe the man’s injuries were but did state the coffee burned him, caused pain and suffering and other special damages in an amount to be proven at the time of trial.

Seattle firm Reed McClure is representing Wendy’s and filed their notice of appearance on April 14.
