As part of his community outreach program, King County Councilman Pete von Reichbauer donated over 1,800 hundred glasses to the Federal Way Lions Club.

These glasses were left behind on Metro busses in South King County and will be used to help families in need.

The club and von Reichbauer have teamed up to ensure that those who cannot afford their costly prescription lenses will now have the ability to have a quality pair of eye glasses.

“When I was first elected to the County Council I asked Metro what happened to the eye glasses that are left behind on their buses,” said von Reichbauer. “I was told that the glasses were thrown away. Since then I have collected thousands of prescription and sunglasses for donation to South King County organizations, who in turn help families in need.”

In addition to glasses, von Reichbauer also donated over 500 eyeglass cases, which will be used as a case to hand out tooth paste, tooth brushes and sanitary wipes to the homeless in King County.

“I am proud of the partnership King County has developed with the Federal Way Lions, and I look forward to continuing this great glasses recycling program,” he said.
