Summer music camps in Federal Way

Summer Music Camp: The Federal Way Symphony will be holding a summer camp from July 13-17. The camp itself will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Federal Way High School Band Room, 30611 16th Ave S. On Saturday, July 17 there will be a showcase performance at 11 a.m. The camp is open to all music students entering grades 5-12 with at least one year of music experience. The cost is $250 per student and a $50 deposit is due by July 1 with the balance due on July 12. Scholarships are available thanks to the Kiwanis Club of Federal Way Soroptimist Intl of Federal Way, Jack and Linda Butcher, and other generous donors. Rosebud Children’s Theatre Conservatory: Holly Rose will be hosting a children’s theater workshop this summer, Rosebud Children’s Theatre Conservatory. The camp will feature workshops for kids ages 4-7, 8-12, 13-19 and a Cabaret class for those age 20 and older. The 4-7 age group will be the Raffi Taffi, with classes from July 5-16 Monday through Friday 9:30-11 a.m. There will be a free performance on the final day of class at 10:30 a.m. Another 4-7 age group class is What D’Ya Wanna Do?, which runs from July 19-30, Monday through Friday, 9:30-11 a.m. There will be a free performance on the last day of class at 10:30 a.m. The other classes have not yet been determined what the shows will be. The class for ages 8-12 will run 9 a.m. to noon July 5-30. Ages 13-19 will meet 1 to 4 p.m. July 5 to Aug. 6 and the Cabaret class will meet 4 to 5 p.m. July 5-Aug. 6. Contact: holly@rosebudctc.org

Musical Summer Camp: Centerstage Theatre will be bringing music to summer camps this year. The theater group will host three summer camps at Knutzen Family Theatre, 3200 SW Dash Point Road. There are three age groups: 4-7 years, 8-12 years and 13-19 years. Each age group will be supervised and taught by theater professionals and will perform a show at the end. The younger groups will present an informal performance for family and friends in their classroom. The two older groups will present public performances in the Knutzen Family Theatre. Cost is $50.
