Rhythm and Brews Festival returns to Federal Way

Event runs noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Town Square Park. Tickets are on sale.

The 2018 Federal Way Rhythm and Brews Festival will run from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. A festive afternoon and evening of music, food and drink, the second annual event will be held at Town Square Park, 31600 Pete von Reichbauer Way S. Tickets are available now at FWBrews.com.

Presented by the Federal Way Symphony, the festival will feature four local bands: Folsom Prism, a Johnny Cash tribute band; Des Moines’ Rod Cook Trio; the Federal Way Symphony Big Band; and a special “jam session” featuring Chris Stevens and Annie Eastwood (aka “Stickshift Annie”). The eclectic musical lineup will feature country, R&B, blues, jazz, big band classics and a few surprises.

Craft brews and spirits and local wines will be available for tasting. Food trucks, including Federal Way’s own Lumpia World and Xander’s Incredible Sandwiches will provide delicious eats and local craft vendors will have their wares on sale.

Beer, wine and sprit vendors include Alaska Amber, Odd Otter, Jellyfish, Abbe and Wilridge wineries, Blackfish Distillery and many more. The $30 ($35 at the door) ticket price includes tokens for five “tastes” of the variety of adult beverages. A “designated driver” ticket is available for $20 for those who choose not to partake. Water and soft drinks will be available for purchase.

Rhythm and Brews is sponsored in part by the Federal Way Mirror, Wells Fargo Bank, Crestwood Veterinary Clinic, Time Out Ale House and the Federal Way Chorale. Proceeds from the festival benefit the Federal Way Symphony’s music education programs including “Masters & Mentors,” which provides private music lessons for students unable to otherwise afford them, and “Emerging Artists,” which provides young virtuoso soloists their first opportunity to perform with a professional orchestra.

Rhythm and Brews is a 21 and older event and no pets are allowed at the park. Free parking is available at the transit center garage.
