Q Dot’s hip-hop video

Federal Way based musician Q Dot’s self-directed and edited music video “Supafresh” will be on national airwaves soon. Confirmations of airplay have come from two independent regional video shows, “Music Inner City” and “The Bobby T Show.” The two networks were also the first to play Q Dot’s first music video release in 2006-07, “Hotter Than a Furnace,” before college-oriented MTVU took interest in the fledging rap artist’s debut. The 26-year-old hip-hop artist is also the host of a new show on Seattle-based Internet radio station Juice Radio. The station, which has sponsored Q Dot’s latest run of performance dates, is based in Seattle. The show will air Wednesdays and Fridays at 8 p.m. and will feature new music and variety topics. FW artist wins awards

Federal Way artist Frances Velling received $1,100 with three awards from the prestitgeous 10th annual Kenmore Fine Art Show. The awards include: Kenmore Art Show Purchase Award, City of Kenmore Purchase Award and the Mayor’s Award with her painting titled “Heron’s Perch.” The painting will be hung in the new Kenmore City Hall after construction is completed. Velling also won the fourth-place award in water media at the Puyallup Fair Fine Art Show for this year’s fair.
