The Federal Way Farmers Market is back from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. every Saturday through the end of October. The opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m. May 13.

Farmers Market is back: The Federal Way Farmers Market is back from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m., located at the south parking lot of The Commons mall. The farmers market runs every Saturday through the end of October. The opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m. May 13 with Federal Way Mayor Jim Ferrell and local dignitaries, high school bands and vendor recognition. Special Mother’s Day festivities on opening day include fresh flower bouquets, a photo booth, massages and manicures, and treat bags available for moms. For kids, face painting and an activity booth to make Mother’s Day cards will be available.

BonsaiFEST!: The Pacific Bonsai Museum hosts BonsaiFEST! from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 13 and 14. Visitors can tour hundreds of bonsai trees and watch live bonsai-making demonstrations. Admission is free, but there is a suggested donation of $12. More information: pacificbonsaimuseum.org

Clothing swap: Trade in your adult seasonally appropriate clothes at the South King Tool Library (1700 S. 340th St.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 13. May 25: Asian Heritage Celebration at the Pho Hoang Restaurant (31871 Gateway Center Blvd. S.) from 3 to 6 p.m. Owners An Pham and Mai Huynh and other Asian business owners will celebrate with the help of US Bank.

June 2-4: The city is hosting its inaugural “Arts Explosion” festival from June 2-4, celebrating photographers, painters, sculptures and all manner of creative souls at the Performing Arts and Event Center (PAEC).
