• Prime Time takes on Shakespeare: Green River Community College’s Prime Time program for mature learners newest course is “Where’s the Fun in Shakespeare Plays?” The course will be led by Gregory Michaels. The class will offer Shakespeare productions on film for discussion and make the “bard” relevant to modern times. • An American spectrum: The Federal Way Chorale will be performing songs from classical to rock in their next performance, “An American Spectrum.” Shows will be held at 8 p.m. on June 6 and 2:30 p.m. on June 76 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 515 S 312th. • The Tonight Show: The Harmony Kings will be performing their newest show, “The Tonight Show,” starting at 7 p.m. on June 6 and a second show is scheduled for 2 p.m. on June 7. The show will include “Beginner’s Luck,” a new high school quartet from Auburn Mountainview High School, who have already won a variety of regional and international awards. • Power of poetry: Thistle Theatre comes to town with “The Goblin and The Poet” at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. June 13. The Hans Christian Andersen story follows a goblin who lives who lives comfortably with a grocer to whom he has pledged his services. He sees a poor poet give up food in exchange for an old book. The incredulous goblin peeks into the poet’s room and sees the beauty and excitement of poetry dance before his eyes. • Willy Wonka Jr.: The City of Federal Way Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department is presenting the Friendship Theatre’s performance of Willy Wonka Jr. Performances are at 7 p.m. June 18-20 and at 2 p.m. on June 21. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased by contacting the Recreation and Cultural Services office at 253-835-6900. Friendship Theatre is geared toward individuals with developmental disabilities. Now in its eighth year, with 40 cast members, this unique group is comprised of actors with various abilities who have an interest and dedication to acting. Rehearsals began in September and are held twice weekly, a tribute to the commitment of the cast and crew.
