A city will host a free showing of “The Lego Movie” at 9 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Town Square Park in downtown Federal Way.
“This is a great event for families to enjoy a nice evening in the downtown under the stars and watch a family movie that is a hit with kids and adults,” said Mayor Jim Ferrell in a press release from the city. “We want to invite everyone to join us.”
According to the city, free popcorn will be available for all, but families should bring their own refreshments. Seating will be on the lawn area and guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs to sit on. The city also notes guests should take note of the weather and dress appropriately.
Movie night is officially put on by the Federal Way Parks and Recreation department, and looks to be a regular part of the “growing option of activities at the city’s newest park.” The city has already put on group fitness classes at the park, along with yoga classes and basketball clinics.
The city is planning on hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and chess tournament in August. Sprinklers are being ran daily right now to help park goers and kids beat the summer heat.
The park is located at 31600 20th Ave. S.
