Federal Way’s Got Talent competition returns

By Vicki Chynoweth, For the Mirror

The Federal Way’s Got Talent competition showcased some talented individuals on Aug. 5. It was an incredible experience to witness the last round of the competition. The two performers moving on to the Sept. 2 round are Aimee Coronado and Karly Burmark.

Looking ahead, from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 2, the contest will feature the top 6 performers of the 2023 season. It’s going to be a highly anticipated event as these talented individuals compete for the ultimate price of $500 and a chance to perform at the Taste of Federal Way on Sept. 23. The competition is sure to be intense, and it will be fascinating to see who emerges as the winner. Best of luck to all the participants.

This season the Federal Way Farmers Market has a new DJ. He has also been instrumental in helping each person in the talent competition with sound and equipment.

Ben Reeves first started DJing in 2001 at a nightclub called Ozone in Fort Huachuca, AZ. It was a club specifically for Advanced Individual Training (AIT) students that had just gotten out of basic training.

He became a golf course superintendent in 2006, and decided to continue to DJ part-time. He did weddings, receptions and several different types of parties.

In 2019 he went to work at 100.9 FM/K101 in Sierra Vista, AZ, as a morning show host and new business development specialist. That’s until an opportunity at Belmor Park opened in 2021. Not only does he maintain the park/facilities, but he also has the opportunity to DJ parties and events on the property. It’s literally everything he loves to do rolled into one job. He was asked by a couple of residents if he would be interested in being the DJ for the Federal Way Farmers Market. Ben is at the Federal Way Farmers Market each week piping in music and making announcements. The rest is history!
