King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who represents the Federal Way area, recently announced $125,000 in funding for the Federal Way High School Pre-Apprenticeship Program for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The councilmember met with the Federal Way School Board to announce this funding and advocate for the pre-apprenticeship program. King County Budget Chair Girmay Zahilay attended the presentation because of his support of this appropriation. With this new $125,000 investment, the total amount Councilmember von Reichbauer has secured for pre-apprenticeship programs in Federal Way Public Schools rises to $375,000.
“Whether they are considering a blue-collar or a white-collar path, students in the Federal Way School District should have every opportunity available to help them succeed after high school,” von Reichbauer said. “The pre-apprenticeship program creates additional opportunities for students to access high-paying jobs and I am pleased that it has grown in recent years.”
