Federal Way Veterans Day celebration: Mark your calendar for the Federal Way Veterans Celebration at 2 p.m. Nov. 9 at the KOAM-TV Studios, 32008 32nd Avenue North.

Family Movie Night: At 5:30 p.m. Nov. 8, bring the family to see the movie “Sing” at the Dumas Bay Centre, located at 3200 SW Dash Point Road in Federal Way. Tickets cost $2 and can be purchased at itallhappenshere.info/movienight.

St. Luke’s Theatre presents the Wizard of Oz: “The Wizard of Oz” is a beloved tale of life’s journey through family, friendship and self-discovery. This version has been scripted by comedy writers Greg Gamble and Lee Howard, and though not the version you’re familiar with, its parody, satire and abstract nonsense will leave you in stitches. Performances will take place on Nov. 8 through Nov. 10 and Nov. 15 through Nov. 17.

Mending Fair with the Refugee Artisan Initiative: Bring up to two articles of clothing that need to be repaired with the Refugee Artisan Initiative from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 to the Federal Way Library located at 34200 1st Way South in Federal Way. Watch and learn as an experienced artisan mends your clothing, from buttons to holes to hemming, as part of a project that reduces waste and develops skills. Free but registration is required.

Hot off the presses – evening edition: The Federal Way Mirror invites you to join the paper from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at Poverty Bay Café for informal conversation, coffee, beer, wine and appetizers. You’ll be able to ask the newspaper staff about their work or talk about issues affecting the region, such as homelessness, addiction and development, all while supporting a local business and the work of nonprofit FUSION to serve families in need. Poverty Bay Café is located at 1108 S. 322nd Place in Federal Way, north of Celebration Park.

Airport Expansion Plan (SAMP) Public Meeting : A public meeting will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 12 at Wildwood Elementary School, 2405 S. 300th St. in Federal Way, where community members can ask questions, submit comments and learn more about the SAMP.

Community in Unity Live Concert Event: The Federal Way – based Voices of Rejoice group is offering a concert and new album release at 8 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Carco Theatre at 1717 Maple Valley Highway in Renton.

Tire Recycling and Paper Shredding Drive-Thru: Residents can drop off up to 10 tires for free recycling and up to five file boxes or paper bags at this free drive-thru opportunity on November 16th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at El Centro de la Raza. El Centro is located at 1607 South 341st Place in Federal Way.

City Council meeting: 6:30 p.m. Nov. 19 in the council chambers (upstairs and to the left) at City Hall (33325 8th Ave. S.).

Green Living Workshops from FW Public Works: Free upcoming workshops are coming up from the Federal Way Public Works department starting on with a container gardening workshop in English and Spanish on Saturday, November 23 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at El Centro de la Raza in Federal Way. Then look for a Safe Cleaning Workshop on Monday, November 25 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Dumas Bay Centre.

Holiday Festival at the Performing Arts and Event Center: On November 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. watch a screening of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, enjoy a visit with Santa and seasonal crafts at the Federal Way PAEC located at 31510 Pete Von Reichbauer Way South in Federal Way.

Green Living Workshops from FW Public Works: More free workshops from the Federal Way Public Works department continue on Monday, December 2 with the Winter Garden Prep online class. Then look for a Waste Reduction pickling class on Thursday, December 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Federal Way Community Center.
