Red White and Blues Festival: Celebrate the Fourth of July at Celebration Park located at 1095 South 324th Street, from 4 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Entertainment includes live music, inflatables, interactive arts and dozens of food and treat vendors before the fireworks show.

Summer Repair Cafe: A free fix-it event will run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 29 at the South King Tool Library Federal Way, 1700 S. 340th Pl.

Summer movies at the PAEC: Families can see movies at the Federal Way Performance Arts and Event Center (PAEC) for $5 over the summer, with kids tickets for free. At 6 p.m. June 28: “Sing.” At 6 p.m. July 19: “Finding Nemo.” Learn more at fwpaec.org.

Blood drive: From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 2 (closed for lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.) at City Hall located at 33325 8th Avenue South in Federal Way.

Hot off the presses – evening edition: The Federal Way Mirror invites you to join the paper from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 9 at Poverty Bay Café for informal conversation, coffee, beer, wine and appetizers. You’ll be able to ask the newspaper staff about their work or talk about issues affecting the region, such as homelessness, addiction and development, all while supporting a local business and the work of nonprofit FUSION to serve families in need. Poverty Bay Café is located at 1108 S. 322nd Place in Federal Way, north of Celebration Park.

Citywide Serve Day: We Love Our City invites you to the 10th annual Serve Day. On Saturday, July 13, meet at 9 a.m. at the PAEC parking lot for team assignments, then meet up at the Federal Way Farmers Market for lunch after volunteer tasks are completed around 12 p.m. Email shelleypauls@gmail.com to register ahead of time.

‘A Toast to Black History’ Champagne Brunch with FW Black Collective: Welcome to the FW Black Collective’s Champagne Brunch fundraiser “A Toast to Black History” Join us for a delightful morning filled with delicious food and bubbly drinks. This in-person event will be held at the Highline College – Mount Olympus room. Get ready to indulge in a scrumptious brunch spread while sipping refreshing champagne. Event runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 13 at Highline College, Mount Olympus room, located at 2400 South 240th Street, Des Moines.

Drive Through Recycling: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 13, 1700 S. 340th St., Federal Way., Drive through recycling includes shredding, foam, textiles and household items.

Community Resource / Health and Safety Fair: From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 20, the Federal Way Farmers Market is hosting a health and safety fair featuring a variety of local vendors and activities related to these important topics. At the Commons Mall in the back parking lot.

Federal Way Rotary Club’s 3rd annual FUNdraiser: Head to Evergreen Middle School from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 20, for a speed croquet tournament to raise money for a good cause. Please bring sunscreen as appropriate and wear stable footwear. Croquet happens on the grass, so the ground may be uneven in some areas. This event is great for all ages, but the club asks that players are 8 years old or older to participate on a team. Alcohol is not allowed on school property. Community Garage Sale Fundraiser: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 20 and July 21 at 1700 S. 340th St., Federal Way, the South King Tool Library will be selling excess inventory of gently used tools. There will be fun for the whole family, including food and games.

Kiwanis 68th Annual Salmon Bake: On July 26 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., join the Kiwanis Club for their annual Salmon Bake. Last year the club served 900 meals. The event will feature Baked salmon, a wine and beer garden, live entertainment, silent auction, and card wall. Tickets are $30 in advance for a regular salmon dinner ($35 at the gate), and a children’s hot dog meal is available for $5. Learn more at federalwaykiwanis.com/salmon2024.html.

Evening in the Garden “Celebrate RSF’s 60th Anniversary”: On Saturday, July 27, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden located at 2525 S. 336th St. Join volunteers and members are invited to join us as we celebrate the Rhododendron Species Foundation 60th anniversary. Enjoy a night of enchanting music, savory cuisine, wine and beer, garden tours, and a rare plant auction.
