Hot off the Presses: The Federal Way Mirror invites the public to join the newspaper staff from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 14 at Poverty Bay Café for informal conversation, coffee, beer, wine and appetizers. People can ask the newspaper staff about their work or talk about issues affecting the region, such as homelessness, addiction and development, all while supporting a local business and the work of nonprofit FUSION to serve families in need. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration: Celebrate and honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 25 at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center, 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S. This year’s theme is “The Next Generation of the Dream” and will include speakers, performances and opportunities to connect. The main event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. then an opportunity to network with nonprofits will run from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Pressure Washer Workshop: Learn how to use pressure washers efficiently to clean outdoor surfaces without harsh chemicals. This class will also cover safety tips and maintenance practices from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 22 at the South King Tool Library, 1700 S. 340th St., Federal Way.

An Interactive Content Creation Workshop: For people who are interested in content creation, this free event is from 12: 30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 30 at Keller Williams Realty Puget Sound, 33434 8th Avenue South, Federal Way. The workshop will focus on preparing for and filming video, editing, posting strategies, scripting and more.

State of the City Address: Federal Way Mayor Jim Ferrell’s annual State of the City Address will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Performing Arts and Event Center, 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way South. The event is free and open to the public.
