Hanwoori Garden Fundraising Night: On August 4, head to the Performing Arts and Event Center for the Hanwoori Garden benefit concert featuring acclaimed Korean musical theater couple, Son Jun Ho and Kim So Hyun. Join for an evening filled with hope and inspiration as these top musical stars captivate you with their mesmerizing and impassioned voices, all while contributing to the fruition of the long dreamed-of Hanwoori Garden. National Night Out: The 41st annual National Night Out is Tuesday, Aug. 6. This nationwide community-building campaign promotes strong partnerships between police and the communities they serve. It’s an opportunity for police and neighbors to come together under positive circumstances, while fostering a sense of community and mutual trust.
Kid’s Day at Steel Lake Park: From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 7, thisfree event is designed to reconnect families with the heart of the community in Federal Way. Relax, unwind, and enjoy a day of laughter and togetherness at Steel Lake Park, 2410 S. 312th Street. Crafts, food, entertainment and fun for kids and families. Concessions and inflatable rides will be available for an additional fee.
FUSION Whimsical Wonderland Gala: FUSION’s summer arts gala fundraiser, themed “Whimsical Wonderland,” is coming up 5 p.m. Aug. 7. The event features food, live and silent auctions and more. Hot off the presses – evening edition: The Federal Way Mirror invites you to join the paper from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 13 at Poverty Bay Café for informal conversation, coffee, beer, wine and appetizers. You’ll be able to ask the newspaper staff about their work or talk about issues affecting the region, such as homelessness, addiction and development, all while supporting a local business and the work of nonprofit FUSION to serve families in need. Poverty Bay Café is located at 1108 S. 322nd Place in Federal Way, north of Celebration Park.

Summer Repair Cafe at the South King Tool Library: Bring small household items for repair such as lamps, vacuums, clothing and furniture between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Aug. 29.
