With money raised during the second annual Chili Cook-off, the Federal Way Farmers Market distributed checks to two charities on Oct. 20.
On behalf of South King Fire and Rescue, Chief Al Church and executive assistant Lauri Perry accepted a check for $1,570 to benefit the South King Firefighters Foundation.
On behalf of the Federal Way police, a check for $1,570 was presented to Special Olympics Washington. Multiple medalist Kimberly Bench, Special Olympics campaign manager Mary Do and interim police chief Andy Hwang accepted the check for the charity.
The Federal Way Farmers Market also recognized Janice Siebenaler of Evergreen Bank for selling 52 tickets to the charity Chili Cook-off between police and firefighters. Local photographer Ed Streit has produced a coffee-table book about the event.
