The following excerpt from Andy Hobbs’ opinion piece in the Nov. 6 edition of The Mirror says it all: “(Steve) McNey helped (Jim) Ferrell get elected to the council in 2003. McNey will relocate his family from Florida to Federal Way, then try to make Ferrell the city’s first elected mayor.”
And so begins the transformation of Federal Way politics from a quaint small town style, to only those with political muscle need apply.
For anyone considering running for mayor of Federal Way, be sure to have a campaign manager (one dedicated enough to move from out of state) on your side. No longer will a few thousand dollars for yard signs and some sign waving get you a spot in the city government. Mr. Ferrell has ratcheted up the ante for playing the game.
