There was once a woman who lived in England. She was living on the dole, what we call welfare. She had a child and was a single mother living off welfare.

But she liked to write. She had been writing since grammar school. And she decided to write a book. Everyday in her coffee house, she sat at the same table and wrote as she drank her coffee and attended to her child.

Soon her book was finished and she looked for an agent. Eventually she found an agent and her book got published in England, later in America.

Her book was about a boy who went to magic school to become a magician. His name, the star of the book, was Harry Potter and the book was called “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.” The author was J.K. Rowling, a woman living on welfare.

The Harry Potter series went worldwide, making J.K. Rowling one of the most famous writers in history. She is one of the richest authors in the world, richer than the Queen of England.

This is a grand example of what can be done when you are down and out but have perseverance. This is a success story.

The table where she sat to write her book is now roped off and is a tourist attraction in Edinburgh, Scotland.
