I want to take this opportunity to publicly thank the Twin Lakes Fred Meyer and especially the meat manager Darryl and Melinda in the meat department, for rescuing the Kilo Middle School Thanksgiving Food Basket program.

Donations had been collected and food purchased for seven families. Unfortunately, the turkey breasts that had been purchased inadvertently were left unrefrigerated overnight and were spoiled. Darryl and Melinda, within 15 minutes of my call Wednesday morning, were able to donate one whole turkey and get us a wonderful price break on the others and have them ready for me to pick up within half an hour of my initial call. They turned what could have been a very sad and embarrassing issue into a story of goodwill and helpfulness on the part of our local merchants.
