On Sunday evening, Aug. 29, I heard a noise which sounded like an explosion, and about 15 minutes later my doorbell was ringing.

At the door was a young man who told me that there was a fire behind my house and that he had called 911. He was knocking on doors letting us know. I do not know what his name is, but would like to thank him for his actions. I really believe he saved my house from damage and my neighbor’s house from damage.

Thank you for taking the time to stop and help us. Thank you for calling 911. And I would also like to thank the fire department for their quick response.

Editor’s note: According to South King Fire and Rescue, a brush fire measuring one-tenth of an acre on both sides of the BPA Trail was extinguished about 10 p.m. Aug. 29. Probable cause was discarded ashes from a match or cigarette.
