Please speak English | Federal Way letters

Federal Way is in the United States of America, and here, we speak English. Yes, we are the melting pot of the world, but when traveling to another country, we have to learn some of their languages as well as their laws. Students coming into the U.S., as well as their families, should learn to read, write and speak our language and not expect our schools to hire extra help in their languages. This puts an added burden on our teachers and the children who do not know these languages.

It used to be that when we were in school, and wanted to learn another country’s language, we could sign up for those classes. But now, we have to cater to those who are here and not ready to learn our language. Maybe it’s time for the parents of these children to teach them how to speak English, before they start into our public school system.

We seem to have lost our heritage and English speaking because there seems to be a law written that we are to cater to any and all non-English speaking visitors as well as students entering our public schools. Maybe it’s time for the parents of these children to learn more about our way of life, here in the U.S., and in Federal Way in particular.
