Our neighborhood street is not a freeway | Letter

Many of us who have lived on 21st Avenue Southwest have lived here before we became the city of Federal Way. We were promised that if we voted for city-hood, they would stop putting apartments on every corner. So we voted for incorporation and then what did city officials do? They put apartments on every corner.

The apartments on 312th Street can’t hold all the cars, so residents park them out on 16th Avenue. They should not be allowed there. One morning when I took my morning walk, cars were parked on 16th Avenue and a man jumped up from a back seat. If a child was walking to school (Adelaide Elementary) he could have grabbed that child.

New residents have moved in and are trying to make 21st Avenue Southwest into a freeway. No! Does Interstate 5 have houses beside the freeway? No! Does I-5 have driveways backing into the freeway? No! Our street is a neighborhood road with houses on each side. It is not a freeway.
