I was deeply offended when I read that the editorial board of the Federal Way Mirror endorsed Roger Flygare as the outstanding candidate for state representative for the 30th District. How can a reputable newspaper turn a “blind eye” to the verified aggregations that Flygare has falsely publicized about his military service?
Most offensive is his flaunting of the Purple Heart medallion that he wears on his lapel that offends me most. He desecrates the significance of the Purple Heart and insults those veterans (like my brother) who died in the service of his country and was awarded the honor posthumously.
Flygare admits that he is not responsible for what the Vietnamese misinterpreted as heroic and all the editorial board suggests is that “he should work on his history lessons.” I cry “foul.”
To me, this suggests that the proper military tribunals should be alerted and appropriate action be taken to correct his military history. Flygare lacks integrity and creditability and would do us constituents a disservice if he were elected as our representative in Olympia.
I seriously urge the Federal Way Mirror rescind their endorsement and “save face” in their erroneous endorsement of Roger Flygare.
The board members based their decision to endorse Flygare on the premise that he is a “small” business man and understands what a business owner needs in order to grow and employ more people. In truth, Flygare operates a secretarial service and is comparable to me running a garage sale. This assumption of his business experience is ludicrous and insults my intelligence.
