I have known Jim Ferrell for many years and I have attended many Federal Way City Council meetings. I have listened, watched and spoken at many meetings and we are given just three minutes to speak, and then it’s sit down with no answers.
But when Jim Ferrell knows that an issue is not right for our citizens, or not what they have voted for, he and only he, has voted “no” many times. He cares about the citizens of Federal Way, and their needs and desires for our city.
Earlier when we wanted to elect a mayor for Federal Way, everyone on the council voted “no” except Jim.
After the citizens of Federal Way voted “yes” to elect our mayor, Jim announced that he was running for Federal Way mayor, but no others did. When it came to setting the salary and jobs that would be under the mayor, Jim recused himself from being part of the decision making for those things. After it was all set up, then suddenly two more council members decided that it wasn’t such a bad idea after all and that they too would like to be mayor. Hmm!! It doesn’t seem quite right that they didn’t think it was such a great idea until the salary, etc., was set.
What about the 45-story high-rise that the council is trying to push through? Jim says “No, not now.” No matter where I go — banks, stores, credit unions, churches — most residents do not want this. Can you just imagine what our city will be like if they are allowed to put in this mass building? You can’t get through Federal Way now. If they tear up our roads and widen them, it will be a big disaster. We do not need to be another Bellevue.
Jim Ferrell says “no” to wasteful spending when it will cost our taxpayers a lot of money.
His colleagues only said “no” to an elected mayor.
I feel Jim Ferrell is very honest and has high ethics. He is the one we need for mayor of Federal Way.
