I attended the kickoff for Mark Miloscia as Senator for the 30th District last night and was pleased that the former Democrat gained eye-opening political experience that caused a change in parties.
Suspicion is common when a politician switches. Loyalty is still highly prized in our society. I was satisfied to see that Mark’s loyalty to his convictions, the people in our state, and his God and family never changed.
He saw government waste and worked to stop it. He saw that raising taxes was unnecessary if the monies already available were used properly. He realized that businesses need to be supported as the basis for the wealth and health of our economy and should not be targeted and bled dry.
He saw deeply held American values being abandoned and his party moving away from those and from him. Fellow Democratic legislators were there speaking of the respect with which they held Mark and the integrity and work ethic that has never changed. The 30th District is blessed to have him run to represent them. He is not doing it for the “fluff” that comes with being an elected official.
I am relieved that good men and women like Mark and Linda Kochmar have the optimism, strength, and willingness to do the often thankless work of politics for us, little guys. I pray God’s protection and guidance over them.
