Shame on state’s GOP party
As a Republican who has voted Republican for the past 38 years, I am appalled and ashamed of what Luke Esser and the Republican party has done in reporting and “calling” the winner of the caucus for John McCain in Washington even before the total results are in.
I believe in the platforms of the Republican party and what it is supposed to stand for and that it should live up to the name of being the “Grand Old Party.”
It is not Esser’s place to do this and if the final outcome is different or the same, it doesn’t matter. It is the principle and lack of ethics that does matter. I think this should be thoroughly investigated and Mr. Esser should be taken to task over his presumptuous tactics.
Please — it has become the “norm” to expect this from the Democrats (the last governor’s race showed us that), but even members of the Republican party in Washington state stooping to force the outcome of an election in one direction or another? Is there no sense of right and wrong left in this nation? Why can’t anyone seem to give Mike Huckabee a fair shake? He deserves the right to run in this election the same as anyone else, even if the media has tried to discredit him on every turn, to disparage his credentials or simply ignore him, leave him out of the news and the debates, and are trying to create the perception that he is just some country bumpkin, or as Chris Matthews called him, “a country mouse.”
The media has no problem reporting that the contest between the Dems is far from over, yet they are doing their best to pound into the heads of the Americans (most specifically, those of the states who have yet to vote), that the Republican contest is over and McCain has won. As the continuing wins for Huckabee show, the horse race is not over yet.
Do we as citizens have no chance for our true voices to be heard in Washington state? Aren’t we part of the United States of America where each citizen has the right for his vote to count? If Huckabee should turn out to be the winner, how much harm may this have already done, since millions of Americans already believe the McCain has won Washington? The Republican party has a huge responsibility to make this right. This one presumptive act will reflect badly on the Republican party and could have an impact on the general election.
Who is Esser actually working for? Americans still want and deserve the truth. Now, let’s have it!
