Learning about mayor candidates in the Federal Way Mirror | Letters

I really appreciate the presentation of mayoral candidates in the Federal Way Mirror on June 26. More than ever now, I find I’m supporting Mike Park. He has a tremendously relevant background (15 years of service with local issues plus an international perspective), and is demonstrably well attuned and committed to our local needs.

As to the other candidates, we can note that Linda Kochmar, also a gracious and dedicated candidate, is most proud of hiding the police station and the rest of government down in the woods, not something that makes downtown or the transit center any safer. Skip Priest has been doing well by us in Olympia, and I would hope he’d keep doing it. There is still plenty to do down there. As to Jim Ferrell, it is unseemly that he should work for a new form of government only so he can be that government. He could well have recused himself from the first cycle to separate the change from personal ambition.
