Well, fellow citizens who have been dealing with with the Sound Transit light-rail Pooh-Bahs and their associates on our city council, who know better about everything than the local pond scum (that’s we citizens)? They’re at it again.

I watched the Feb. 1 channel 2 news coverage of the interviews with the outraged Rainier District citizens. They were appalled at the information from a transit representative that all property within a half-mile of their light-rail station was to be designated as high-density development areas. This would eliminate all the historic and revitalized homes and businesses this district has been heroically trying to save.

The people being interviewed were simply fed up with the tactics by steam-rolling transit proponents, and my heart bled for them. And yes, we have our own Federal Way City Council sorts abetting transit instead of the citizens they’re supposed to represent, so we can easily sympathize.

It was also disclosed that there was a bill in Olympia to that effect in the process of becoming law. Is there no bottom in the barrel of the people who are supposed to represent us? Has anyone heard of this before? Has there been public input?

I called State Sen. Tracey Eide’s Olympia office, which sent me the bills (House Bill 1490 and Senate Bill 5687).

Our council, who through thwarted skulduggery (think City Hall) to scandalous and unethical manipulation (think transit facility) to blatant, self-important and shameful brass (think 312th City Center Access site) continue to, nonstop, rub our noses in our eternal and fruitless hope that they will one day represent us. Don’t hold your breath.

I have read these bills and, although it’s easy for a lay person to get lost in the RCW logic (revised codes of Washington). Get your own bills and read them for yourselves.

It is imperative that we all voice our displeasure with the new Sec. 9 of both the House and Senate Bills (House Bill 1490 and Senate Bill 5687) to our State Sen. Tracey Eide, and our two State Reps. Skip Priest and Mark Miloscia, and ask that they excise Section 9, or, if necessary, refuse to pass the bill in the House or Senate until it is removed. It is easily done. This slum we are creating, through the Sound Transit perps and their abetting Federal Way City Council majority persons, is in what is supposed to be our core area. Trust me, go to any city and visit their bus station and rail depot, and you will be visiting a slum! Is this what we want to lose our property for? At the Jan. 6 council meeting, councilman Jim Ferrell mentioned a $54 million figure but then, diplomatically, said the PAC proponents put it at a much lower number. Now read the wee, itty bitty little blurb in the Feb. 8 News Tribune, which puts the total cost of the projects at $185.3 million including: HOV lanes to to Pacific Highway South (on 312th), building a parking garage (Truman High School) and preparing a site for a performing arts center (Truman High School), adding turn lanes to two intersections. They had to reveal themselves and spell it out as this was their request for their “cut” of the potential bail-out money. This has been their plan from the beginning. What more would it take to show their duplicity? I think I’d pay close attention and storm Olympia. And remember, there is an election year coming up for some of them.

There simply is no bottom to their barrel.
