Influencing the way you vote | Federal Way letters

Looks like another “election is dawning,” and we must make decisions the news media wants us to.

One paper and/or broadcaster says vote for this initiative or that one. Vote for this candidate or that one, and off the citizens go voting the way the news media or phone calls, or advertisement sent to their homes, vote, without reading the voters pamphlet.

We, the voting citizens, need to read and try to understand as much of the pamphlet as possible. I still don’t understand the wording, nor some of the initiatives in the voters pamphlet. Now what do I do? I read them again. I try to stay away from “name recognition” and/or those who are the incumbent, if they have been in a particular office way too long. These can include the school board, the council members of Federal Way, congressmen/women, senators, etc.

I try to be honest with myself and know, as American citizens, we have choices and can use them when voting. So my advice to all citizens of Federal Way: Vote for those people/initiatives you believe in, not because a son, daughter or any other resources tell you to or advise you to. You choose.
