I am a World War II veteran. I spent 195 days in combat in Europe. I know what wars are like. Now, many years later, I have become a peace-loving guy. I don’t like wars. Wars are intended to destroy things and to kill people. I don’t like wars.

But there is another side to this story. If we did away with our military, we would soon become victims of the bad guys. So we have a military to defend ourselves.

I believe the same reasoning holds true for our private lives. If we had no ownership of guns, the good guys would have no defense.

The bad guys would still have weapons and they would soon make the good guys their victims.
