Here we are in the 21st century. This should be a high point in our civilization. Unfortunately we are still seeing man’s inhumanity to man and there is also an undercurrent of man’s inhumanity to animals. We hear about some mistreatment and killing of cats and dogs and that this behavior is a precursor of serial killers. Here in Federal Way and environs, we hear about our beautiful parks with their greenery and natural ambiance. There is a dark side to this scenario. Some city entities and specifically Twin Lakes Golf Club and the Homeowners Association have a contract with wildlife murderers.
They will come skulking in the early dawn hours to remove resident geese while we are snug in our beds. They then will be taken to an undisclosed site, crammed into a divice, sometimes breaking wings or legs, and gassed. This being done to beautiful creatures because some amongst us would rather destroy an animal than step in a little poop. (There is a humane way of cutting their population by oiling their eggs.) How can the city and the HOA allow these actions to be carried out without input from the citizens or members of an HOA?
Wildlife adds so much to the serenity of our neighborhoods and takes us away from the rat race of today’s society. Gandhi once said, “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” his is true, we are sinking to a new level of depravity.
